We are a friendly church welcoming all ages including families. There is usually a slot in the service which all ages can join in. A space is set aside near the back of the church where small children can play. Everyone is welcome to receive bread and wine at our monthly Holy Communion Services; the bread is gluten-free; the wine is non-alcoholic. Newcomers are welcomed into full membership of the Methodist Church if they wish.

All weekly Sunday services include hymns, Bible-readings, prayers, and a sermon or reflection making the Bible relevant to daily life. Services are varied with hymns accompanied on organ, piano, and occasionally guitar. We welcome Local Preachers, Supernumerary Ministers, as well as our own Minister to lead worship. All parts of the service are displayed on an easy-to-read screen, though books (including music hymn books) are available.

Pastoral care of our congregation is a high priority. We enjoy tea, coffee, and a chat after Sunday services. On weekdays social events include a weekly Ladies Fellowship, an occasional Men’s Fellowship, monthly games afternoons, house groups, and coffee mornings. Everyone is welcome to any of these events whether or not they attend Sunday Services. We run the Bearsted Friendship Group which meets weekly in the Madginford Hall; this is a service to the whole community and anyone is welcome.

We are delighted that, after much hard work to develop our green credentials, we have been awarded the Silver Award as an Eco Church. (The certificate for this can be viewed as a PDF on this page.)

We link with other local Churches as we meet weekly for lunch during Lent; our ladies meet three times a year with the ladies of other churches for lunch and a speaker; and we have occasional joint services with Holy Cross, our local Anglican Parish Church, and with other local Methodist Churches. We take part in the Easter trail and join in with Carols on the Green at Christmas.

We are part of the North Kent Methodist Circuit, which is overseen by the Superintendent Minister and the Circuit Meeting, which meets three times a year.
